Online accounts. Security
There's no doubt about it,
we are living in the age of the cyber attack. Every day, it seems like there's
a new story in the news about another major company or government organization
being hacked. And while we may not all be targets of these large-scale attacks,
our online accounts are still at risk. So what can we do to secure our accounts
and protect our information? Here are some tips:
1. Use a strong password.
This may seem like an obvious one, but it's important to use a password that is
not easy to guess. A good password should be at least 8 characters long and
include a mix of letters, numbers, and special characters.
2. Enable two-factor
authentication (if available). Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of
security by requiring you to enter a code from your phone or other device in
addition to your password when logging into an account. This makes it much
harder for someone to hack into your account even if they have your password.
3. Be careful what you
click on. Phishing emails are becoming more and more sophisticated and can
often trick even the most tech-savvy person into clicking on a malicious link
or attachment. If you're ever unsure about an email, err on the side of caution
and don't click anything!
4. Keep your software up-to-date . Outdated software can often be
exploited by hackers, so it's important to make sure all the applications on
your computer are up-to-date with the latest security patches . 5 Keep an eye out for suspicious activity .
If you see any strange activity on your account, such as unexpected login
attempts or unfamiliar charges , be sure to report it immediately . These could
be signs that your account has been compromised . By following these simple tips , you can help
keep your online accounts safe from cyber attacks .
